When you face a challenge, do you feel drained or energized?

It's 5:45 a.m., and my alarm goes off, but I'm already wide awake, cozy under my comforter, lost in thought. I'm mulling over what to pack for my son's lunch and dreading the bullies he has to deal with at school. Spring break ended too soon, as always...

I knew the popular parenting advice of telling your kids to hit bullies back wouldn't work with my son. When I kinda suggested it once, he looked at me with surprise and a touch of disgust (ouch!), saying, 'What?? Mama! That's not kind. If I push him back, he will get hurt!'

Raising this little Gandhi hasn't been easy. He makes such valid points that sometimes it's hard to argue. As a coach, I'm actually grateful that he's facing these challenges in 4th grade while still under my care because these bullies never truly go away.

We all face our bullies throughout life. Sometimes, they come in the form of a boss who undermines our work, a coworker who excludes us, or even that nagging voice in our head telling us we're not good enough.

Our bullies are everywhere, but how we respond to them is what really matters. That's where the concept of Energy Leadership™ comes in. There are seven different ways to respond, some that drain us and some that leave us energized; the choice is always ours. It all depends on our awareness as leaders.

So, I have started coaching my son on recognizing his superpowers and responding to his bullies in a way that aligns with his values and helps him thrive. And I can't wait to share this powerful concept with you. Tune in to Episode 3 of The Willow Wisdom Podcast to learn more!"
