Patañjali Yoga Sūtra I.2

Yoga is the ability to direct the mind exclusively toward an object and sustain that direction without any distractions.

What is the current state of your mind?

Is it like a drunken monkey, where thoughts, feelings, perceptions come and go and you are hardly aware of them? or does it feel sluggish and stuck? or does it toggle between confidence and self-doubt causing a lack of purpose or direction?

You might identify with one of the states or all of them at different times. Changes of mind can be observed primarily in our relationships with other people. Relationships are the real test of whether we actually understand ourselves better.

Regular yoga practice helps train your mind to focus on the things that really matter to you. It provides many tools to help you feel more connected to your inner wisdom to actualize the process of self-discovery and personal transformation. You could pick one or all of them depending on what you resonate with:

Āsana (move): Working together, we’ll develop a breath-centered yoga practice for you that meets your physical, mental, and emotional needs and goals, and find a way to integrate it into your daily life as part of your self-care regimen.
Prāṇāyāma (breathe): “Prana” is lifeforce or breath and “ayama” is to extend. This controlled breathing practice will help vitalize and stimulate the subtle channels of energy underneath the physical layer, preparing you for the stillness of meditation.
Chanting (attune): Learning to chant will help refine your capacity to listen, make the mind alert, and improve memory. Its vibratory and energetic quality helps create a more activating or soothing effect on the mind as needed.
Meditation: Breath-centered asana practice helps increase our self-awareness. Pranayama and chanting help increase the stillness of the mind. Traditionally these tools were designed to prepare our body and mind for meditation practice.

We meditate to get better at life, not to be better at meditating.

Private Yoga

Traditionally yoga was taught via private instruction, making it all about you! With my support you will learn how to accurately assess your present condition, how to set appropriate goals, and how to choose a suitable practice. Even a 15-30 mins home practice significantly deepens your experience and helps you integrate yoga into your daily life.

Getting Started

This initial consult is for health assessment, goals setting, answering any questions you might have, and for us to get to know each other.

New Student Special

4 sessions: 60 mins each.

After the initial consult we can begin with a simple practice for you which we will build over the span of 4 classes at a pace based on your comfort level.

Single Session

75 mins

These single sessions can be used to deepen your yoga practice. We can meet monthly, bi-weekly or more!
